People, the world is full of them, and you cannot ever avoid them all the time. It is odd to think everyone is going to like you all the time, or that you will become best friends with everyone you interact with. People like people to different degrees at different times in different places and situations.
‘and just as faster and faster communication is accepted as normal in society today, the depth and speed of social acceptance becomes faster and more shallow; social fear and anxiety has become more and more common.
In my clinic in Carshalton, I have seen many people who fear, they fear people, they fear situations, and they fear life in many of its forms. A key strategy is to change the way in which a client thinks and then to change the feelings that follow the thoughts in social, and other situations.
Are some people special, is it a genetic thing perhaps; they are born that way, like being left handed or a ginger haired? How is it someone can just walk in to a room and take control with no effort at all, and maybe there, on the edge is some one else trying to work out what to do now, looking for the safe bet, looking for the way out?
We are all born with the potential for self-confidence. Sometimes life's circumstances serve to undermine our natural confidence. Watch a young child explore the world, for them there is no boundary, no reasons not to – this is what we are born with, who you are now is what you have learnt, or what has been taught to you.
